I'm back

Well, what can I say except that I apologize for disappearing into thin air.
To bring you up to speed...sold our house....packed....moved....started a new job....
I finally have the computer set up and can get online....had to have the local telecommunications company come install a phone jack so I could set the computer up....etc.....lol! However, and here is the GREAT news....I finally have my own knitting room. The computer is in my knitting room and sometimes my son is in here...but I don't have to hide my stash/knitting all over the house. I can keep it all in one place now....I also have a TV in my knitting room to knit and watch TV or movies when I knit. I love it in here!!! When I find/unpack the camera I will post pictures of my favorite room....lots of ideas to decorate it!

Knitting update:
I am totally swept off my feet in love with Rowan Calmer! Oh My God!! This stuff is fantastic! I am making Bob from knitty.com in Red. The knitting is now complete and I need to have a seaming party!

I also started the shapely Tee pattern in Sirdar Pure Cotton in a vibrant pink.

I purchased the New Zealand Wool that was being sold at Knitting Maniac. What a super nice person Carissa is...she even gave me directions when I got lost trying to find her place...lol! I have a couple of different ideas of what to make with it. One of the items being considered is Mariah at Knitty.com.  Also considering doing York with the New Zealand Wool.

Stay tuned there is more to come!

Here in the freezing North!

Well, it's official.....I have gone into hibernation....today is -27C, with a windchill factor making it -42C. I refuse to go any where in this! (As if my car will even start....lol!) As I hibernate  I can't help but ask myself...Why do I live in Canada again? Someone please remind me.....lol!

Today's plan is to drink coffee, knit, drink coffee, and knit some more....I am pulling out movies and settling in for a day of movies and knitting!

My knitting update....Hudson is done...and I love it! I even did a first for me....I used the sewing machine to install my zipper! I can knit, crochet, do cross stitch, but I never learned how to sew. My sewing has been limited to sewing my work together. I think I did a pretty good job on it. (Doing the dance of joy!) I have to admit....I LOVE this pattern! I already have plans to do another in a different color, I also have other ideas to "shake it up" a bit....we'll see how that plays out when I get to it! When someone gets home I will get pics taken (inside, as I will not venture out to the frozen North for outside pics...lol!) and then I can post pics of the Hudson in all it's glory!

I also am going through my UFO's and taking serious stock of what I have in progress. I have decided that life is to short to be working on projects that I have no intention to wear. I have a habit of knitting things I will never wear just because I want to try the pattern....then it gets cast aside when I lose interest in it. In the meantime to many things I want to wear I never get to this way....I have to stop doing that....lol! So I will be doing alot of frogging so that I can recycle the yarn into projects that I deem more to be worth my while. (*Singing* A frogging I will go, a frogging I will go....*)

I started a Banff in more of my stash yarn, so far I am finding the pattern easy to follow. It currently is working up in Bernat Chunky too. (Gotta use up that stash yarn so I can shop for more yarns. I am currently using yarn that was "gifted yarn" from non crafty family and friends and trying to find things to make with that.)

I also plan to start the Klaralund with the Noro yarn in colorway 147 soon. (Who knows, maybe while watching movies today I will swatch for it. )

What is on your needles?

Happy New Years!!!

Well,
Christmas was really nice around here this year. I finished the scarf for my son's girlfriend and it turned out so nice and soft. I think she liked it....every time I see her since she is wearing it (even in the house!) lol! My family actually listened when I told them I wanted a gift certificate to my favorite yarn store for Christmas. (I even gave them directions....lol!) Then on Boxing Day (for Americans, that is the day after Christmas) when my favorite LYS (Knit One Chat Too) had their BIG yarn sale I was there first thing when they opened with my Gift Certificates in hand, ready to shop. I bought Noro in 147 colorway, and Sirdar Mega Chunky (Not sure what to make with that yet, any suggestions?) and two balls of Maxima for the Newsboy cap in the SnB Nation. (Which was my Christmas gift to myself...lol!) My husband was floored to see that $200.00 of yarn could fit in one bag....lol!

Fishy Kiss Knits now has their blog site back up and running. If you haven't checked out Belinda's site before please take a moment to have a look at the wonderful work both she and her Mom turn out!

How was everyone's New Years? Did anyone make any New Year's Resolutions? The closest I will come to making a New Year's Resolution is to decide that I need to do more work from my stash and purchase less yarn until I get my stash storage shortage problem under control again. I discovered that I was out of storage (aka...hiding) places after my Boxing Day shopping trip. The yarn is now stored in the Linen closets where the towels USED to be....(the towels are now split up and stored where ever I can find room....like under bathroom sinks in the cabinet) My husband wasn't crazy about the idea of putting the Noro yarn in a wicker basket and calling it a decoration.

Pics to follow soon of my stash and Ashley with her scarf and Newsboy Caps. (I haven't given her the Caps yet)

As for my WIP's, I finished the Cap Sleeved Pullover. It turned out nicely except the sweater turned out too big....not sure where it (or I?) went wrong....I got swatch...measured during the piece and appeared to be on track. But it turned out WAY to big! Not sure if it was me or the pattern...to the frog pond it goes! As for the Katrina, it was real nice to work with and I will be deciding on another project using this yarn again. I am making good progress on Hudson, just need to knit the hood then sew sleeve seams and then the zipper and it will be complete. I knit two Newsboy Caps for my son's girlfriend, which I haven't given to her yet (it's a surprise).

Knitting Circle

Tuesday night, Belinda of Fishy Kiss Knits, invited me to her knitting circle. It was held at Knit One Chat Too in Calgary. What an amazing store....so much yarn I want there! (I can hardly wait for a sale there!) Allison the owner is so nice and friendly she immediately put me at ease. And the other ladies in the knitting circle are all equally as friendly. Erica who also works part time in the store is so friendly and she is so knowledgable. Next time I must remember to take my camera to share pictures here.

My Cap Sleeve Pullover is almost done....just 1 1/2" to go on the neckline and sew in the loose threads. However, I am not crazy about how the instructions are written for the neckline.  I find them a little unclear, so I have tried to follow the picture in the Mag. to clarify it further.  I find one side of the neckline is working out that way, but I am not pleased with the other side. I thought about ripping it out and redoing it, however I have no ideas of how I would do it differently. I would still end up with the same finished product. So, I plug away on it. Hopefully I will be able to wear it for my company Christmas party Saturday night.

On Hudson I am making steady progress, the back is complete and the left front is completed too. I am 3/4 done on the right front. It has been an easy knit so far....mindless knitting. It has been so easy so far that in my mind I can see doing this pattern again and again using different colors and incorporating different ideas for trim on the sweater....(such as fur trim on the hood, etc...)

My middle son plans this Christmas to give his girlfriend a "Promise Ring". She is such a sweet girl, I am really happy for them. She already calls me Mom and has asked me to teach her to knit after Christmas. She wants to make a scarf for herself. I figured for Christmas I would make a scarf for her combining some Red Heart Soft I had in my stash and some Bernat Eyelash yarn. so far I am very pleased with how these two yarns are working up together. It makes for a super soft scarf.

What are you knitting for Christmas?

My life is returning to normal now!

Now that work has finally gotten into a routine my life can get back to normal! I am so sorry I did not have time to update my blog. I did not have time to do much knitting either! As promised here are pics of the Park that I completed and my crew socks!

I realize the crew socks are pretty plain, however they are what I needed for work! I know the pics are not very clear, I will get some taken outside when winter eases up on us here! Today is -15C. for the high! YUCKY!!!  Canadian winter is a terrible thing! Every winter I go into hibernation!

While catching up on my blog readings I had to laugh while reading
Kerstin's site! My husband and I have the opposite problem...he is always the one who is hot. If he had his way there would be NO blankets on our bed. I am always freezing(it's these Canadian winters I tell you!!) Not to mention he sleeps diagonally in the bed from corner to corner and always leaves me this little triangle to curl up in! It's no wonder that I get my best sleep AFTER he leaves for work!  LOL!

As for a knitting update: the cap sleeve pullover is coming along sooo slowly!! Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing takes forever! My goal is to have it done by this weekend. I have a Christmas party next week that I would like to wear it to. The back piece is done and I am at the neckline shaping. My other crew socks are stalled for the moment. However, I did start "Hudson" from the Noro Knits book last night. I decided I needed a jacket at work as the office gets pretty cold...(truth is I was looking for any excuse!! LOL!) I am knitting it out of Bernat Chunky in "Natural". I know it is acrylic but Bernat Chunky is soft. I really like it!

I went shopping at Old Navy and bought the cutest skirt for work! (Also can wear it for the Christmas party next week with my new Cap Sleeve Pullover!) You can see it
here. I got it for $25.  I love shopping there!

Next week is my husbands and mine anniversary (22 years!) and I need some suggestions for an anniversary gift. Does anyone have any ideas???
